Located on the fringe of vibrant Didsbury Village, to the south of Manchester the project provides an eye-catching landmark along a main residential road.



The scheme was designed to create a series of beautiful and light modern living spaces linked wherever possible with generous roof gardens. Using white render, timber cladding and glass, the buildings are totally contemporary throughout in a way that is not just skin deep. Spaces inside the building express themselves meaningfully on the building’s exterior, with no need to resort to contrived pastiche.

During the planning phase of any project, we work tirelessly to consult with the planners in order to help them to understand the logic of our proposals and to win their support. This approach, firmly rooted in negotiation is at the heart of our philosophy; we always prefer to talk through our differences and present clear arguments for our proposed design. Because of this.we have an excellent record in securing planning approvals.

Igloo is proud of it’s versatility and its ability to work within a range of different architectural styles. We strongly believe that architectural quality transcends style. Moreover we firmly believe that there is no necessity for the style of a project to be dictated by the style of what surrounds it.

We continually challenge the lazy preconceptions that unfortunately pervade the decision-making that influence our built environment. Because of the passion we feel for architecture, we are not afraid to proclaim what we believe in and we welcome debate with those who think differently. We feel that is better for our buildings to provoke a strong reaction than meet indifference. We believe that only by elevating the level of architectural debate in our society, can we turn the tide of planning and design of our environment from degeneration to regeneration.

Although there was initial resistance to the scheme, after it was completed it was nominated by local residents for a civic award. Today the development continues to be a highly desirable residential location.
